Isle of Fernando- Where is it?
If you’ve heard of the Isle of Fernando’s then you’ll no doubt be a big fan of the ITV dating show Take me Out. But have you ever actually wondered where the Isle of Fernando actually is? Well we can tell you that it’s actually based in Tenerife in the popular resort of Puerto de la Cruz. Yes that’s right the contestants are actually flown over to Tenerife for their dates where they spend one day getting to know each other.
You might be even more interested to know that you can actually go and stay in the very hotel that the contestants have their date in. The Botanico Hotel is a 5* luxury hotel set right in the heart of the resort and within a short stroll to the beach. The hotel itself is actually very popular with its guests and is now the only ‘Grand Luxe’ hotel on the whole of the island.
Although you don’t get to see much of the Botanico Hotel on Take me Out it is a very beautiful building which has a great range of facilities. You may have seen several dates involving a massage or more recently a chocolate massage, all of which are carried out in the hotels Health and Beauty Centre and Spa. The hotel also has 5 restaurants, all of which would have been featured on the show and provide a huge choice of top cuisine. One thing you certainly don’t get to see on the show is the rooms but you’ll be interested to know that the Botanico has a choice of room styles to fit most budgets. If you really want to splash out then you can enjoy the penthouse suites which include their own Jacuzzi in the rooms!
The local area of Puerto de la Cruz also has a huge amount of activities to do and if you are a real Take me Out
fanatic you could even re-enact many of the dates. Some of the most popular activities include water sports, horse riding, golf, paragliding and you could even take a visit to the Loro Parque animal park.

The Hotel Botanico is still the only hotel in Tenerife that has achieved official ‘Grand Luxe’ classification. As you say the Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque is also a great 5* hotel, which is very luxurious too and has won several awards in its own right such as the the Tripadvisor Certificate of Execellence Award 2012. I suppose which one you prefer is a just a matter of opinion, but as one is in the south of the island and the other is in the north it might be worth trying them both!
