Series 6 of the ever popular TV programme Benidorm returned to ur screens last week bringing a ray of sunshine into our lives on these dreary winter nights. It seems that many of you are wanting to have the ‘Benidorm’ experience for yourselves this year as we’ve had record numbers of people enquiring about the Solana Resort and holidays in Benidorm over the weekend! If you get your timing right you might even get to appear in an episode yourself as Series 7 is set to commence in Spring this year. To maximise your chances here’s our lowdown on all the locations used in the Benidorm TV show:
The Solana Resort is a fictional hotel and in real life it doesn’t exist and is instead made up of several location across Benidorm. The pool area and swim up bar can be found at the 3* Sol Pelicanos Ocas in the levante area of Benidorm. The production crew usually hire out several hotel rooms during filming to be used as dressing rooms, make up and rest areas for the cast so a stay here is likely to have you rubbing shoulders with the stars if you stay at the right time of year. Prices this spring start from only £22pppn, a complete bargain!
The main reception area of the Solana Resort is located in the ‘Pink House’, a former artists studio opposite the Benidorm Palace which is now used as a film / tv set. For the majority of the year the building is closed but during filming it’s a hive of activity, there’s even a mini airport arrivals hall that has been created here especially for the TV show.
The home of many a badly sung song, Neptunes Bar is a bit of an institute amongst the holidaymakers of the Solana Resort but surprisingly it isn’t part of the Sol Pelicanos Ocas complex. Filming takes place at Morgans Tavern just a short stroll from the hotel and is easy to find as it’s the only bar in Benidorm shaped
like a huge pirate ship! Morgans Tavern is a very popular cabaret bar and has several live acts each night, including the renowned One Vision show which is well worth a watch.
Perhaps the only location used for film
ing that hasn’t been given a fictional name! Benidorm Palace was taken over by Madge and Mel Harvey in Series 3 and appeared in the Benidorm Christmas special. A great night out for all the family, Benidorm Palace holds a nightly dinner and show and appears in the show exactly as it is in reality.
Who can forget the episode when we see Geoff
Maltsby meet up with his blind date ‘Lesley’ in the restaurant overlooking the sea? As we now know Lesley turns out to be Les and Geoff decides to make a run for it halfway through the meal! Filming for this episode took place on the Mediterranean Balcony, which is one of Benidorms most visited sights. Located on the promenade, the balcony looks out across the mediterranean sea and gives spectacular views of Benidorm.
Last week we saw Michael and new character Tiger hit the Benidorm bars for a drink or two before getting themselves a rather dodgy tattoo! One of the bars used for filming was the Heartbreak Bar located just by Levante Beach, a place that’s usually easy to find as it’s popular with Harley Davidson riders and normally has several parked outside. The Heartbreak bar was used in the new series but was also used in filming for Mick’s brothers stag do too and is well worth a visit.
